BREAKING: 4 Big Hacks in a Row💰💰💰💰
Big Bang Theory on Magic Eden 🙈
Good Morning, Switchers 🌞
👋Welcome to Switch Daily.
Wassup? Already having a mid-week boredom sesh? We were kinda boooored, too, since the most happening topic was Sam pleading not guilty until we came across random Big Bang Theory images on Twitter.
Turns out, Magic Eden—a Solana-based NFT marketplace, started displaying weird images from the American sitcom Big Bang Theory, yep, that Sheldon one. Also, some users started finding inappropriate porn-like images too. Oops!
Did someone hack Magic Eden? Apparently not, it was just a bug from its third-party image provider, and they fixed it in an hour. 😅

Market pulse 📈
The market is settling in 🤓
Following the release of FOMC meeting minutes, where the Fed sees more rate hikes in 2023 to control inflation, the crypto market seems getting adjusted to the new reality.
The total market cap reached a high of $825 billion during yesterday's session, with BNB and ADA leading the way for the crypto top 10. Nasdaq also supported the market helping BTC to revisit the $17K level for a brief moment.
It’s Hackuary already!😱
Less than a week!
That’s how long it took for hackers to steal from the big guns in the crypto-verse.
According to a report, the total amount that we lost to scams in Dec 2022 is $62 million. Turns out, this is the lowest recorded amount of the year. Looks like the hackers were on a break planning their next move Ocean 8 style. 😛
Who are these big guys?
Jan 1 - Victim 1
Name: Luke Dashjr
Who was he? An OG Bitcoin developer who has made significant contributions to the Bitcoin open-source community. He is known for his work on the Bitcoin Core project, which is a widely used implementation of Bitcoin software.
What was stolen? ~$3.6 million or 216 BTC 😱
What really happened? No idea, but here’s Luke’s version. He had kept his BTC in a cold wallet and protected it with something called PGP or Pretty Good Privacy keys. He suspects that his security system itself could have been infected with malware a few months ago.
Jan 4 - Victim 2
Name: Nikhil Gopalani
Who is he? Nikhil is the COO of RTKFT, a massively profitable upcoming digital wearables brand acquired by Nike in December 2021 and a well-known figure in the NFT space.
What was stolen? All of the NFTs in his wallet except one— Death Row Records NFT of the "Clone X Theme Song" worth about $59. The total estimated value is still unknown, but according to Opensea, it could be somewhere near $1,73,000.
How did it happen? Nikhil claimed that he fell prey to a clever phishing scam and lost all his NFT holdings to the hacker, who sold them immediately. According to OpenSea data, the attacker used two wallets to steal more than $173,000 in NFTs from Gopalani's wallet. One of the attackers' wallets appeared to be empty, while the other still held many of the COO's assets in plain sight.
It does not stop here, there was another one. Just a few hours ago, another NFT influencer, CryptoNovo fell prey to a cyberattack and lost $300K+ worth CryptoPunk NFTs.
And then another one. Hackers exploited $3.4 million worth GMX tokens from a GMX whale and exchanged it for 2,627 Ether.
A few hacks, what’s the big deal?
Well, these individuals are not any average crypto users like us. They are degens in this crypto market and would definitely know how to protect themselves from scams. If they got hacked and scammed, it means that the hackers have taken their game to the next level.
So what do we do?
Find a trustworthy exchange to trade or invest in crypto.
Do not share your password or any privacy keys with anyone.
Do not trust anyone who says they will double your money overnight in crypto.
Just stay SAFU!

What’s the matter? 🤨
According to reports, Indonesia will establish a crypto exchange in 2023 as part of its crypto regulatory reform. The platform will be launched prior to the transfer of regulatory authority from commodities to securities authorities.
NFT market generated approximately $24.7 billion in organic trading volume in 2022 which is just slightly less than the $25.1 billion recorded in 2021, despite the NFT market crashing in 2022.
Inflows into digital assets totaled $433 million for the year 2022, the lowest since 2018 when inflows totaled only $233 million. It is a 95% decrease in comparison to 2021.
